Beautiful, Sunny Thursday

Hi Everyone,

Today is gorgeous.  It is sunny, with a gentle breeze, and just warm enough.  Jim and I was sitting out on our front porch just enjoying each others company, our porch and the quietness of the neighborhood.  Yes there are things to do and they will get done.  Jim just hung my altered cutting board in my kitchen.  It looks so cute and matches my kitchen.

Next week I will be sending out the pages from the swap I just hosted.  The ladies who participated are very talented and creative.  Their pages are beautiful and very tropical.  That was the theme.  I will do a video after I send out the pages.  This has been a great experience not only hosting the swap but participating in the swap.  If you would like to be part of the swap go to Life on the {Scrap} Beach and join, you can then participate in the swaps.  You will meet people from all over the world.  I have friends in Ireland, England, New Zealand, as well as all over the US.

Scripture Reading:  Psalms 27:1-2
"The Lord is my light and my salvation: whom shall I fear?  the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?  When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell."

It has been such a beautiful day.  The sun is shining, the breexe is slightly blowing, the flowers are blooming.  Praise the Lord!  I have been doing some crafting today.  I altered a flower tin and it is now my stick pin container.  I call it "Vintage Rose Pin Cushion Container."

Scripture Reading:  Psalm 25: 21-22
"Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.  Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles."

Experimenting on Monday

Hi Everyone,

Today has been so beautiful.  I have done some crafting and experimenting with baking.  One of the crafts that I am working on is an altered cutting board.  I am doing it sort of vintage style and one of the things I wanted to added to it is a recipe.  One of the recipes that reminds me of my childhood.  I called my Mom to ask her about it and she could not find the recipe, so her and I discussed it.  So I told her I would give it a try.  It was my Mothers Mayo Chocolate Cake, made from scratch.   The mayo takes the place of the butter or shortening and the eggs.  Way back when I was a kid the mothers had to use what they had and that was one of the results.  My husband says the cake is good, it has the consistency of a brownie.  I frosted it with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting.  I will add the recipe to my recipe section of this blog.

Scripture Reading:  Psalms 25:19-20
"Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.  O keep my soul, and deliver me; let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee."

Warm and sunny Monday

Hi Everyone,

Sorry it has taken me so long to post here on my blog.

Yesterday my adopted granddaughter left for her homeland.  She has been here in the US for almost a year.  My daughter has for several year hosted foreign exchange students and I have meet a few of them   Ngan is one of them.  When I visited in October last year I really got to know her and I adopted (not literally) as my granddaughter.  She is a very sweet young lady.  She will be arriving in her homeland of Vietnam tomorrow.  she has not seen her parents and brother since August of last year.  I was able to talk with her on saturday and it was a very tearful good-bye.  My dughter told me that yesterday was very hard on everyone bcause so many people grew to love Ngan and she them.  My two granddaughters Kristy and Abby really cried, they will miss her, she was like their big sister.   The good news is she will be back in the fall for college.  She was accepted to a college here in Pennsylvania near Philadelphia.  So hopefully we will get to see her.  My daughter is hoping to fly her to California for Christmas.  Maybe she can spend some time with us before she goes out there for the holidays.

Scripture Reading:  Psalms 25:17-18
"The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.  Look upon mine afflication and my pain; and forgive all my sins."

Well have a great day!  I have also posted a picture of my latest altered canvas.

Pleasant Wednesday

Hi Everyone,

I am having a very wonderful and pleasant wednesday.  Jim and I had to go to Indiana, Pa for a doctor's appointment and decided to have lunch at Eat N Park up there.  It was so nice.  We often do these day dates and they are wonderful.  We don't do them often because we like to spend time with family, they are very important to us.

In a couple of weeks our daughter and her family will be in for a week and then when they go back to California I will be going back with them for three weeks.  Sometime soon when I go out I would really love to see Jim go with me.  He doesn't see the grandchildren as much as I because he doesn't go.

Scripture Reading for today:  Psalm 25:15-16
"Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.  Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolute and afflicted."

Pleasant Monday

Hi Everyone,

What a pleasant day today has been.  The weather is just right, not hot and not too cold, just right.  I have been working on laundry and crafting today.  I have tried three times to do a video for YouTube and guess what I have to do it again because about a third of it has been cut off.  Oh well, it will all work out.

Scripture Reading:  Psalms 25:13-14
"His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.  The secret of the Lord i with them that fear him: and he will shew them his covenant.'

Praise the Lord for His constant care of His children.

Sunday - Resurrection Day

Hi Everyone,

Church this morning was great.  The pastor's message was on proper counseling.  He used the scriture from II Samuel when Absalom was seeking counsel on taking over his father's kingdom and eliminating him.  Pastor Skelly really knows how to preach and make the scriptures clear.  We have several good pastor in our church and they are all gifted.  The Lord has truly blessed them and we are blessed to have them in our church.

July 4, 2011 it will be one year since we started at Harvest Baptist church and we are so glad we are going there.  It has been a long haul looking for a church that we are truly blessed in and received from the Lord his instructions.  The word of God is the most important thing about church, all othere things are secondary.  I love learning from the word of God.  Praise the Lord for Harvest Baptist church.

Two Beautiful Days

Hi Everyone,

I have had two beautiful days and I want to share them with you.  Yesterday my husband and I went to a very beautiful wedding of two people in our church.  This was a couple who are passed 60 years of age.  The bride was absolutely grogeous, as well as her attendants.  The groom was handsome and very attentive of his new bride.  God brought them together and now they will serve him together.

Today Jim, Jimmy and I had some friends over for a picnic.  What great fellowship.  This couple goes to ur church and they are ver sweet people.  I am glad that we are friends.  God is so good.

I was studying my Bible study book and came across this poem and thought I would share it with you.

The Divine Weaver

My life is but a weaving
Between the Lord and me;
I cannot choose the colors
 He worketh steadily.

Oftimes He weaveth sorrow
And I, infoolish pride,
Forget that He seeth the upper,
And I the under side.

Not till the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful
In the Weaver's skillful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.

I hope this will encourage and inspire you.

Thursday: Ladies Bible Study Day

Hi Everyone,
Today was ladies Bible Study day and it was great.  I really enjoyed learning more about Abraham and Sarah.  Today we concentrated alot on intercessory prayer and hospitality.   I find that when I learned more about things like today I want to what I can to please the Lord.  He is so good to me and I have been truly blessed.

Scripture Reading: Psalm 25:11-12
"for thy name's sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.  What man is he that heareth the Lord?  him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose."

Today I also received that pages from the Vintage Sewing Room page swap that I participated in.  the pages I received from the other ladies in the swap are absolutely beautiful.  I will be doing a video of the pages so everyone can see them.  I belong to Life on the Scrap Beach and there are a bunch of really nice ladies that just want to share their ideas about scrapbooking and crafting.  If you are a crafter join in the fun.
