Merry Christmas to All

Hi Everyone,

My husband and I will be living for our candlelight service at church here shortly and I wanted to take the time to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas.  I have enjoyed all the different crafts, pictures, teas and all the other activities that all of you share on your blogs this Christmas.  Everything is so beautiful and inspiring. I love Christmas and its true meaning.  Tonight we will be singing praises to the Lord for the most precious gift ever given, our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.  May He bless you and yours as we remember His birth.  God Bless You All.

With love and hugs this Christmas time,
Janet

It is Snowing

Hello from Western Pennsylvania,

Yes it is snowing outside, not a lot yet.  It would be nice to have a white Christmas though.  I have to tell  you a story, it is funny.  My daughter and her family live in Nipomo, California.  This morning when they got up, it was very cold outside.  The girls (my granddaughters) said to their mom that it snowed overnight because they saw the frost on the ground.  Their mom had to explain that it was only frost.  That is how cold it got there.  Our littlest granddaughter I don't think she remembers snow.  She was only 9 months old when they moved to California and the oldest granddaughter was only about 3 years old.

Tiffany says that the kids in California often wish for snow.  Sometimes different businesses will have snow trucked in so that the kids can play in the snow.  Here in PA we don't have to have it trucked in, it comes every year.

Well I thought I would share that little story with all of you.  Have a super day and a Merry Christmas too.

Hugs,
Janet

Jim's Birthday

Hi Everyone,

Today we are celebrating my husband's 72nd birthday.  He is a wonderful guy and the best husband and father in the world.  I am truly blessed.

Yesterday was a big day with Jimmy and Brittany.  We all went shopping together and then to dinner at the Olive Garden.  We all love that restaurant, the food is delicious.

Today after church Jimmy and Brittany are coming over for dinner, birthday cake and then we are all going to decorate the big tree in our great room.  I will take pictures and post them soon.

I have enjoyed seeing everyone's decorations here on the blog.  They are all so beautiful.  Thanks for sharing.

Well I am going to close.  We will be leaving for church here pretty soon.

Shopping Day

Hi Everyone,

Every year in December our family goes shopping together.  We have so much fun.  There are several stops we make such as Walmart, Dellalo's, the mall and its many stores, Barnes and Noble and then to top it all off Olive Garden for supper.  This year we will be celebrating my husbands birthday.  Tomorrow is his birthday, but we thought we'd start to celebrate it today.  We still have a few things to get for Christmas.

I hope all of you have a great day, a great month.  Spend lots of time with family and friends.  Remember though, who's birthday we are celebrating this month, Jesus Christ.

Talk to you all later.

Veterans Day

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to check in and let all of you what a great and memorable day I have had.  Today in church our pastor honor all the veterans.  We had two of our young marines bring the colors to the front and the Cardamon men sang our National Anthem with out music.  It was beautiful.  Then they showed a slide show of the different branches of the services and when the song for each branch was played those who have served or are serving stood while the song played.  It brought memories of those in my family who have served and are now gone to be with the Lord.  My Dad proudly served in the army during WW11  I have two uncles that served in the army during the Korean War.  One brother who served in the navy during Vietnam and one who served during peace time.  My husband's uncle Tim served in the marines during WW11 and was one of the few survivors from Iwo Jima.  And I am proud to say that I served in the USAF during peace time.

Our pastor then gave a beautiful message from the word of God, II Timothy 2:1-4 about being soldiers in God's army.  It was just a great morning and one I will remember for a very long time.

I hope all of you have had a great day today.

God bless all of you,

Hi Everyone,

I just to touch base with everyone.  I live in PA and watching Fox News all about the storm that just came ashore.  We are in western PA and getting a lot of  rain and winds.  It is also very cold.  My heart goes out to those on the coast.  I have family right outside of Philly.  So prayfully they are ok.  If any of your are in the path of this storm please be safe.  I know God is in control, Praise The Lord.

Sending my prayers and love out to all of you this cold and rainy evening.

Sad Day

Hi Everyone,

Today was a sad day for me.  You may think me selfish and if I sound that way I am sorry.  Today my daughter left.  She is going to visit my Mom and then tomorrow she is going back to California.  I know her family miss her and I understand, it is just so hard when we only get to see her and the family once a year.  I thank the Lord for the phone and computer so we can keep in touch.

Also today our son and his bride got home from their honeymoon.  They really enjoyed themselves, thank the Lord.  They had several chore to take care of and when they got home (they are going to live across the street from us) my son came over to get some more of his things to take over to the house.  We talked a few minutes and then he said well Mom I better go home now.  That was hard because for almost 26 years this has been his home and now he has his own home.  I know I will get use to it.  It is just that I can close my eyes and see him as a little boy playing in the yard.

Well both of our children a well grown up and I am very proud of both of them.  They both love the Lord and their spouses.  My daughter loves her daughters so this all makes me happy.  I just want to thank the Lord Jesus for his constant care and love for my family and I and how he always provides for us spiritually, emotionally, physically, financially, etc.

It is time to close for now.  Everyone get a wonderful nights sleep and I will be posting again real soon.  God bless all of you.

Janet

Family

Hi Everyone,

Hope all is going well with all of you.  Today is very exciting for my family and I.  Tonight our daughter will be home here in PA for her brothers wedding.  Such an exciting time.  She has not been home for over a year and a half.  We wish the whole family could have come back for this great celebration, busy schedules in her family are very busy.  She is so excited about coming home and seeing her little brother get married.    Another thing is while she is home we will be celebrating her 32st birthday.  That day, Oct. 22, 2012, we (her Dad and I) are taking her shopping at PatCatan's, Westmoreland Mall and Barnes and Noble.  To top it all off we are taking her to the Olive Garden for dinner.  She is so excited about the time she can spend with us.  Her time here will be too short but we will cherish the time we have with her before she goes back to CA.

Well I better go for now.

Janet

Autumn In PA

Happy October Everyone,

I am so excited.  Autumn is one of my favorite seasons of the year.  I love the cool fresh air, the landscape of  autumn colors and the scents of the season. I took a couple of pictures the other day from the Wal-mart parking lot of the trees.  The reds, yellows and oranges are so beautiful. I just had to share so I am posting some pictures of the trees.  If you have any pictures or comments of autumn please post me and let me know.

Last Full Day in California

Hi Everyone,

Here I am with my daughter and granddaughters at Horizons, a homeschooling coop group.  Tiffany is one of the teachers, she is teaching a class on the Reformation.  Kristy is taking a California history class and a drama class.  Abby is taking a Colonial America class.  This is such a great way to enhance what Tiffany is teaching them at home.  After this we will be leaving for Los Angeles.  I leave tomorrow morning to go back to Pennsylvania.  It has been two great weeks with my daughter and her family. The girls tell me they do not want me to leave, but I told them that their PapPap needs me.  I will be back next year toward the end of May beginning of June.  It will be hard them and definitely me.

I do miss my husband and son.  I wish Tiffany and her family lived closer but they are where the Lord wants them right now.

Well I better go for now.

Hugs from California,
Janet

From Sunny Callifornia

Hi Everyone,

Here I am in sunny California enjoying being with my daughter and her family.  It is so good to see my granddaughters.  We are having fun together.  This week I will be doing some crafts with them as part of their homeschooling.  It is so wonderful to see how well they are both doing.  Tiffany also has a field trip planned to the Santa Barbara Bontanical Gardens and to the St. Inez Mission for history and science.  Kristina and Abigail are getting a truly wonderful homeschool education that not only includes book work and worksheets but hands on activities.  I am truly amazed at how bright they are.  Kristina is reading so well, it is one of her favorite things to do.  Among her reading activities she includes many of the classics.  Abby is doing so well not only with her printing but her math as well.  I have gone over both of the girls work sheets and I am so proud.  For their Bible class they are doing Keepers at Home which is a curriculum that teaches young girls how to take care of the home and the different activities that are involved in doing this.  Many of the activities involve sewing, crafting and cooking.  They are also involved in homeschool co-op groups where they get together with other homeschoolers and learn science and history that enhances what they are learning in their classes at home.  The girls are also involved very heavily with 4-H.  I am also very proud of my daughter and her commitment to making sure her daughters get a proper and Biblical education that will bring glory to the Lord and help them become the woman of God that they were meant to be.  I am also proud of my son-in-law and the support that he gives to Tiffany and the girls in these activities and education.

Well it is time for me to close.  Have a support day.

Hugs from sunny California,
Janet

Monday Memories

Hi Everyone,

Another beautiful Monday here in Vandergrift, PA.  The sun is shining and the birds are singing.  It is suppose to get warm today, 89 degrees, maybe 90.  Not looking forward to that, but will deal anyway.  It is hard to believe that July is almost over.  Looking forward to my trip to California in September to visit my daughter and her family.  It has been over a year since we have seen them.

Jim is working on the other house today.  He is putting on new steps in the front.  I will be just doing laundry, cooking and cleaning.  I love it though.  Being a homemaker is the best.  "She looketh well to the ways of her household,..."  Proverbs 31:27a          "...keepers at home,..."  Titus 2:5c     I do not like the word house wife, I am not married to the house.  I am a homemaker.  To me being a homemaker is not just cooking, cleaning, baking and doing laundry.  It is making the home a place where your family enjoys coming home to, a place where they are comfortable and a place where they can truly be themselves.  It is making a place where memories can be made and remembered.  I love to look around and see the pictures on the wall of my family or see knick knacks and remember why I received them.  I love to look in my china cupboard and see the dishes that came from my grandmother as well as Jim's mom and grandmother.  In my kitchen I have some drawings hanging on my frig that my granddaughters made me when they were here last year.  I see the magnets on the frig that remind me of the places across the country that I have visited.  Oh the memories I have and the excitement I feel when I think of the new memories that are made each day.

Well I better close for now.  Talk to you all soon.

Hugs,
Janet

Just dropping in to say hi to everyone.  I hope is you are all having a great day.  I am relieved to see some rain.  Here in western PA we really need it. So it is a welcome sight.

Yesterday, the 4th of July

Hi Everyone,

I hope all of you had a wonderful 4th of July.  Our celebration was great.  Our church had a family 4th of July picnic and it was great, being at church and the many activites that were planned, the food that was shared and the message from God's Word.  Our church family is so wonderful and it is always good to get together with them, share a meal, fellowship and hear the message.  The kids had a blast playing in the bounce houses, riding in the go-carts and playing games.  The adults got in on some of the games and I did see some of the adults riding in the go-carts.  I enjoyed just watching all the activities and talking with everyone.  The food was awesome.  There was about 5 different hamburgers to choose from, hot dogs, salads, desserts a plenty, you name it, it was probably there.  Before the message we sang hymns including some wonderful patriotic hymns as we remembered those who have served and many who gave their lives so that we could live and worship in freedom.  Praise the Lord for his great goodness to us.

God bless you all,
Hugs,
Janet

Beautiful Sunday

Hi Everyone,

I know it has been a couple of weeks since I posted last.  However, I just had to post today and share with you my day so far.  Church was wonderful this morning.  I am always inspired by the message of God's Word.  Today Pastor Skelly preached from John 7: 14 - 53.  It was great.  the message of Jesus and the salvation He offers to all never get old, it is always new.  Praise the Lord.

This afternoon Jim preached at the boarding home.  The people ther love Jim and he loves sharing God's Word with those who do not get out to church.  When he came home he grilled some hot dogs and we had a little picnic, just him and I.  It is so wonderful sitting out on the patio and enjoying our backyard and the beautiful weather.  With all the trees that growing in our yard we see alot of birds.  Next week Jim is going to get food for our finch feeder.  We have seen them as well as blue jays, cardinals, robins, sparrows, and black birds.  I love to watch the birds.  After we cleaned up Jim watered the garden and then I got out the book I am reading and sat in the shade of the trees next to my little herb garden in a pot and read for a while.  The scent from the herbs was wonderful.  I planted lemon balm, pineapple sage and lavendar.  It was wonderful.

Right now I am reading a book series by Colleen Coble, her Rock Harbor series.  It is a real page turner and very hard to put down.  I recommend the series.  I am looking forward to reading some of her other series.  I would love to hear about some of the books that you like to read or have read.  Leave a comment and let me know what you like to read.  I also love to read the Bible.  My favorite verse is Ephesians 2:8-9 - "For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is a gift from God not of works lest any man should boast."  I love this verse because it reminds me that there is nothing I can do to save myself.  Only Jesus saves.  Please also share your favorite verse from the Bible with me.

Well I better close for now.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Janet

Before the Rain Arrives

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to check in with everyone.  I hope all is having a great day.  The weather report on the computer is calling for rain this afternoon.  It does look like it could rain any time.  So before the rain comes Jim decided to finish trimming the hedges that are around our property.  It is a time consuming job and it can take awhile.

I was outside taking pictures of the flowers and garden and snapped a few of Jim hard at work.  He is such a good gardener.

I am going try and post them to share with all of you and I hope you enjoy them.

If you know anyone that might enjoy reading one or even both of my blogs please let them know my blog addresses and please encourage them to become a follower.  Let me know and also have them leave a comment.  I would love to hear from all of you.

Have a wonderful Day.

New Books

Hi Everyone,

Guess what my hubby bought me?  He knows me so well.  He bought me two new books to read.  One from Brandilyn Collins, she is one of my favorite authors and a new one called submerged by Dani Pettrey.  I  have never read any of her books so this will be a new adventure for me.  Since I do not work any more I can do a lot of reading, it is one of my favorite things to do along with scrapbooking, altered art, cooking and baking.  You will have to checked out my kitchen blog (nananovemberskitchen.blogspot.com) and see the recipes that I post.  I like to try to create new dishes and my guys love what I make.  I just posted one today called Basil, Cheese and Tomato souffle.  It was hit.  Give it a try.

Well, I just wanted to share with all of you the books my wonderful husband got me.  If you like to read share it with me right here on my blog.  I would love to know what everyone likes to read.  also what is your faovrite book of the Bible?  My Old Testament favorite is Proverbs and my New Testament favorite is Ephesians, off course the whole Bible is great.  Let me know what your favorites are.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Memorial Day Remembered 2012

Hi everyone,

I hope all of you had a great Memorial Day yesterday.  Some family and friends gathered here at our house and it was so sweet to be with them.  One thing that I wish however, was that my daughter and her family could have been here.  The weather was tolerable because it was hot and a bit humid, but there was a nice breeze.  Everyone brought food and everything was great.  Before everyone left Jim made sure they had a bag of lettuce and onions from the garden.  There is nothing better than a fresh garden salad.  Thanks everyone for sharing your day with us, we are blessed.

Today I plan on working in my craft room and hopefully doing a video or two of some of my latest creations.  Right now I am finishing a little girls purse made from purple jeans. It will be very girly.   I have one already done that I made from little girls pink shorts, it is very shabby chic.  I am also working on a tablescape, using a mirror and embellishing it with WOC products.  I plan on submitting it for a team position.

Well I am going to close for now.  Sorry I was long in between blog posts.  Have a great day.  Please check out my other blog: nananovemberskitchen.blogspot.com  You will find recipes and pictures of my china ware, etc.

Ladies Bible Study Day

Hi Everyone,

Sorry it has been a little while since I posted here on my blog.  I am so excited, today is Ladies bible Study day at church.  I am so glad that I can now go to them.  It is so refreshing to learn more about God's word.  Studying God's word with the other ladies from church is wonderful.  It is good to have friends you can count on and who will pray with you and for you and stand beside you.

I have also uploaded pictures of my newest creations. they are called Ladies Pin Cushion Hats.  I am participating in a swap.  We are to make 6 sets of 3 stick pins with black and white as the theme.  I asked the host of the swap if I could add and accent color and she agreed.  We were to also make something to display them on and I decided to make these hat pin cushions.  I hope everyone likes them.  Check them out and please leave a comment on what you think about them.

Well got to run.

Sunday: Resurrection Day

Hi Everyone,

What a great day I am having with my family.  Church was wonderful.  The message was awesome and the singing was the best.  I so enjoy my church and the people that are there.  The message was on II Chronicles 24, about young king Joash and the mistake he made in his later life not following the Lord and what eventually happened to him.  Made me think and I praise the Lord for messages like this.  I look forward to tonights message and what the Lord wants to teach me.  Got to see Jennifer and her family in church today.  It was great seeing Addison and Alexis.

Well I will close for now.  On the right is some pics of my tea cup pin cushion.  I saw a video a few weeks ago about these and I wanted to try and make one.  What nice gifts these would make.

Hi Everyone,

It has been a great day with the guys in my life.  They are so wonderful to me.  To let them know I love them I made for dinner homemade meatloaf, redskin mashed potaoes and peas for dinner.  It was wonderful sitting down and having dinner with the two of them.  I am so ready to spoil them.  They have been so supportive of me and I truly appreciate them.

Tomorrow is good friday.  The day our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ went to the cross.  It was there he took my punishment and shed His precious blood.  Thank you dear Jesus for all you have done for me.  I love you Lord.

Hugs,
Janet

Wednesday, April 4, 2012

As we look toward this coming Sunday, we remember the work that was accomplished on the cross by our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Jesus our Savior, Redeemer and Lord.

On a hill far away, stood an old rugged cross, the emblem of of suffering and shame.  And I love that old cross where the dearest and best for a world of lost sinners was slain.  So I'll cherish thee old rugged cross where my trophies at last I lay down.  I will cling to thee old rugged cross and exchange it someday for a cross.

Remember the Old Rugged Cross.

Hugs,
Janet

Have Faith in God

Hi Everyone,

Have faith in God.  There is no other were you can go too that will answer your prayers for your good and His glory.  God truly is good.

"And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say to this mountain, Be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."  Mark 11:22-23

Have faith in God.  Walk with Him daily.  Get into His word.

Hugs,
Janet

Big Decision Made!

Hi Everyone,

This week has been a week for a big decision.  Tuesday evening my husband and I discussed whether I should resign from my job at the child development center.  Wednesday I went to work with my two resignation letters in hand and turned them in.  April 11, 2012 is my last day.  It is kind of bitter sweet.  I will miss the kids, but it will be so sweet and wonderful to be at home doing the things the Lord would have me to do.  I do not regret the decision my husband and I made.  I feel free and releaved.

I am looking forward to being able to cook for the two wonderful men in my life, wake up to the birds singing and most important of all serve the Lord.

Got to run.

Hugs,
Janet

Home From Work!

Hi Everyone,

It is so good to be home from work.  I love working with kids, but I love being at home.  As Dorothy said long, long ago "There's no place like home."

Today a fellow co-worker and I began planning our summer camp program.  We have come up with some good ideas that I know the kids will love.  This co-worker is so sweet and I really enjoy working with her.

I know this is short, but I got to run.

Janet

Another Day Done!

Another day is filled with activity.  Cleaning, cooking,b baking and crafting.  I was able to work on my altered clipboard for the swap I am participating in on Life on the Scrap Beach.  It has been a challenge and I have truly enjoyed it.  The only thing left to do on it is add son ribbon to the clip part of the board.

Tomorrow I will be working on my lesson plans for next week at preschool.  Last full week of essons before Easter.  I can't wait for Easter break, I am so ready to be at home with my guys.  I love spending time with them.  I will hopefully get some crafting done as well and also hopefully do a video or two.

My daughter tiffany just shared an idea with my for a craft and I am going to try it out.  I will have to go to the thrift store and get an old large piece puzzle.  I also want to work on some tea cup pin cushions.

I am trying to decide whether or not to open an etsy store.  That is still just a thought.  I don't want to rush into anything unless I am absolutely sure.

Got to run.

Janet

Altered Clipboards

Hi Everyone,

A few months agao I decided to do some altered clipboards.  I thought they would make great photo displays.  I can't think of any two people I want to show more, my granddaughters Kristina and Abigail.  Using plain clipboards is like having a blank canvas to work with.  Just use your imagination and you can have personalized display boards to show off your photos.

On these clipboards I used homemade flowers, homemade stick pins, pieces of lace, old jewelry, buttons and scrapbook paper.  I used the color of the girls outfits to determine the color theme.

I hope you enjoy them.  I have just joined a swap challenge on Life on the Scrap Beach and the challenge is doing an altered clipboard.  The theme is The Vintage Garden.  I can't wait to get started.

A project I am working on now is a basket exchange at work.  I will post pictures when it is completed.

Got to run.  Have a great day.

Too Long Gone!

Hi Everyone,

It has been too long since I have been on my blog.My schedule has been so crazy, with work and taking a CDA class for work.  I am almost done with it, but I will still have to go through the testing and then waiting to see if I get the CDA.   I really miss blogging and crafting.  I have been working on the favors for our upcoming Ladies Conference at church and I could not have done it without the help of a lot of friends.  They have been super, thanks Ladies, you are the best.

I did sign up for a swap on Life on the Scrap Beach.  It is an altered clipboard.  I have made three of them and they are fun to make.  Two are mine.  I use them as picture frames of my two granddaughters.  I will have to take pics of them and put them on my blog and the other one I did was for a friend of her granddaughter.  For this swap the theme is The Vintage Garden.  I have been going through my stash for stuff I will need and I can't wait to get started.

Well I better go for now.  I will be back soon.

Love and Hugs,
Janet (Nana)
